Nice Pub in Bendigo for a snack & drinks in the bar while you punt or play pokies in there, Or in there bistro for a loverly meal .
Good food and service. In a historical old venue
Lunch order of fish and chips came quickly, keno was on in the lounge but looked a bit sad. Needed some more TVs with live sports on and a atmosphere change to be a real sports bar. There's a Pokie section ( of course) backpacks are not allowed in that area and staff tell you to hang your bag on a coat hook next to the bar, I'd assume any size handbags that ladies carry will be fine though. A bit like a Frankenstein pub that doesn't know it's identity, I live in Melbourne but grew up in the Mallee and miss the pokie free old school pubs.
The shamrock used to be 'the place to be' as they were situated right in town and had super cheap meals. That was 8 years ago. Nowadays their charging that price for sides. Mains can range from 14 to 22 dollars which is a bit pricey for a casual sports bar. Besides this, food is still on par and you can always count on them to give you a schnitzel the size of your head.
