1. There is a bar next to the hotel, so everynight there are bunch of teens hanging around. Scary.2. No parking space. When we were trying to find a parking space on the street, a white tattooed guy stand on the spot and tell us to go.3. Air con have to be between 25-27 degree
What a lovely historic hotel. My room was spacious and very very comfortable. The service is good with a lovely breakfast served in what was the historic public bar but now a beautiful eating area. I do suggest getting a room away from the street side during the week as it is unbelievably noisy from the trucks and the bloody Bendigo council street sweepers (2 of them)who went up and down the small block where the hotel is 4 times at 5.30am and then parked below the rooms to do maintenance for 20 minutes...Last time I was here on a Sunday morning and it was lovely and peaceful but now I am listening to revving cars, old clapped out trucks and time wasting council workers. Dissapointing.
I have stayed here numerous times. The room has always be pleasant and we'll appointed. The shower pressure was as a little low but manageable. All staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I was a little disappointed this trip with the free breakfast but previously it has been fine.
The Shamrock Hotel lives up to its historical past with beautifully maintained wrought ironwork on the outside, and suitable decor and lots of prints of old photos lining the inside. We were welcomed by friendly and helpful staff and were able to chose our own table by a window. The atmosphere was filled with the sound of cheerful chatter from other patrons. The food was hearty and well presented and the cakes we had afterwards were to die for. The weekend that we visited there just happened to be a Celtic music festival on so we could here the strains of Irish music rising from downstairs as we left. Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable visit and one we would love to repeat.
Beds super comfy and rooms clean. Room layout a bit odd, I think they could have used the space a bit better. Staff all friendly and breakfast nice. They're generous with replenishing toiletry supplies. Location is excellent, but probably wouldn't recommend for solo females as there were often shady characters hanging around.
